- Range of use
Range of use
You need to be clear from the beginning what you want to use a sports mat for. A thin mat is perfectly fine if you do Pilates, yoga or gymnastics. A proper gymnastics mat is especially good for children, as they like to wrestle and do gymnastics. For safety measures, a classic large gymnastics mat is also sufficient. Soft floor mats are ideal for fall protection. For challenging sports with lots of turns and spot landings, you’ll need a low jump mat.
The soft floor mat is not very stable because it has a large sinking depth. That’s why it’s not used for gymnastics. If you do gymnastics, buying a floor gymnastics mat is suitable because it ensures a much more stable stand. With the low jump mat you get a stabilized edge.
The ordinary gymnastics mat used for yoga, Pilates or gymnastics is the lightest mat. This can be easily transported and is simply unrolled and rolled up again. Floor gymnastics mats are much heavier and cannot be transported optimally. A low jump mat has the highest weight of all gymnastics mats.
